Fluorchinolon. Hemmt bakterielle DNA-Gyrase und Topoisomerase IV – essenzielle Enzyme für DNA-Replikation und -Reparatur. Breitspektrum-Antibiotikum, besonders bei gramnegativen Keimen.

Anwendungsgebiete

• Complicated urinary tract infections
• Respiratory infections (gram-negative)
• Gastrointestinal infections (Salmonella, Campylobacter)
• Anthrax prophylaxis
• Prostatitis

Natürliche Alternative

Fluorochinolone haben ein sehr schwerwiegendes Nebenwirkungsprofil (irreversible Neuropathien, Sehnenschäden). Bei unkomplizierten Harnwegsinfekten sind Cranberry + Katzenbart + Propolis oft ausreichend. Propolis und Knoblauch sind breitspektrum antibakteriell.
