Cotrimoxazol (Bactrim, Eusaprim)

Synergistische Kombination aus Trimethoprim (Dihydrofolatreduktase-Hemmer) und Sulfamethoxazol (PABA-Konkurrenz in Folatbiosynthese). Doppelter Eingriff in bakterielle Folatsynthese → deutlich verstärkte bakterizide Wirkung.

Anwendungsgebiete

• Urinary tract infections
• Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PCP) — prophylaxis and treatment
• Toxoplasmosis prophylaxis
• Respiratory infections (resistant organisms)
• Traveler's diarrhea

Natürliche Alternative

Für unkomplizierte Harnwegsinfektionen: Bärentraube (Uvae ursi folium, EU-Zulassung als traditionelles Arzneimittel), Preiselbeere/Cranberry (Biofilm-Hemmung, klinisch für Rezidivprophylaxe). Kein Ersatz bei PCP oder systemischen Infektionen.
